For a long time, there have been disagreements over the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations.
At various times in history, mankind has attributed these or those qualities to them, but for the last 50 years, popular culture has been dominated by the Hollywood-imposed belief that these are unquestionably “grey men” who fly over our planet in their saucer ships and kidnap earthlings for their inhuman experiences.
Sergei Markov, director of the Institute for Political Research, is confident that this is not the case: an alien superintelligence would not wish to chase down “drunk farmers from Texas,” according to riafan.ru.
“When I was studying at the Moscow Aviation Institute in the college of aircraft, I did a little bit of UFO research,” the political scientist explained.
“Today, the following idea prevails in regards to extraterrestrial civilizations: they form from time to time, but because our Universe is 14 billion years old and suns, which “live” for several billion years, expand and explode, civilizations of certain intelligent organisms flare up and go out, not having time to establish contact with one another.”
The concept of “shimmering” civilizations, according to the expert, is currently the most realistic. According to him, the chances of there being other intelligent species in the cosmos, in addition to humans, are exceedingly high.
“If aliens exist, they are unmistakably not like us,” Markov believes. – We may picture a civilisation made up of some kind of ocean-dwelling pseudo jellyfish, or even mycelium! As you can see, there’s almost no way they’re going to come to us on a saucer.
Mycelium is a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae that makes up the vegetative component of a fungus or fungus-like bacterial colony.
In general, an intelligent living form, according to the political scientist, can be non-carbon.
“You could talk about the civilisation of radio waves, for example,” the expert offered. “However, because carbon and hydrogen are abundant in the Universe, it seems more likely that aliens are formed of these chemical elements.”
